Description
The art of acting is based on everyday life principles. Students will learn how to take the techniques learned in this class and apply them to their other courses and major, as well as personal growth. Intro to Drama is an introduction to the elements of performance. Classes are designed to promote awareness and strengthening of the voice and body, unlock creative expression, encourage self- discovery and develop a sense of dramatic action. This is primarily a lab class. Requirements include class attendance and participation, small performance and/or written assignments, reading assignments, play attendance with a written critique, practicum hours on the KELT production and a final scene performance.
Objectives
• Craft. To develop skills essential to the theater, both on and behind the stage. • Creativity. To encourage students’ creative discipline, perception skills, and ways of individual expression. To break barriers of inhibition. • Collaboration. To enhance skills of teamwork, unity, and ensemble within each individual.
Assessment
60 % -first and second assessments
40 % -final assessment
