Swapan Kumar Majumdar is a Chair of Operations Management and Information Systems department. He holds a B.Tech from Jadavpur University (India), MBA from IIM Bangalore (India), MSc from London School of Economics, M.Phil from Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine (London) and Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Technology. Professor Majumdar has over 25 years of experience in teaching, research, consultancy and academic administration. His teaching and research interests include Assessment of e-Business Readiness of Organizations and Government, Strategic Management of IT-Enabled Processes and Services, Analysis and Design of Business IS, Soft Systems Methodology for Problem Analysis and Decision Making, and Science and Sociology of Software Engineering Project Management. Vassiliy Voinov, Ph.D., Associate Chair

Vassiliy Voinov is an Associate Chair of Operations Management and Information Systems department. He received his engineer diploma in Tomsk State University; Candidate of Science degree in Kazakh Academy of Science; Doctor of Science degree in Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, Dubna, Moscow region; Professor degree in Kazakh State Polytechnic University, and also recently received Professor's degree in KIMEP. He has professional experience as invited professor in statistics at the University Victor Segalen Bordeaux, France. Shamsuddin Ahmed, Ph.D., Professor

Shamsuddin Ahmed is a Professor of Operations Management at the Bang College of Business. Currently he is officiating as Director of Research Services. He holds M.S. degree in engineering management from Dalhousie University (Canada) and Ph.D. in soft computing from Edith Cowan University (Australia). At present he is involved with the self-study steering committee for institutional accreditation. In industry he designed and commissioned an integrated supply chain industry. Later he developed the quality, process planning, warehouse operation standard and Supply Chain Management integration modules. In addition, he gained experience as systems analyst in utility industry. In such capacity he developed process planning standards in a large power plant. Industry background gave him an advantage to develop professional courses in Service, Operations Management, SCM, Business Statistics, Facilities Planning, Simulations, Project Management, Business Research Methods, Systems Analysis, and MIS.  More...


Anupam Das, Ph.D., Associate Professor

Mahiuddin Ahmed is a Professor in the Department of Operations Management and Information System. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from Dublin City University, Ireland. Dr. Ahmed was a Commonwealth Postdoctoral Fellow at University of Bath, UK and a Visiting Scholar in University of Alberta, Canada. Dr. Ahmed is teaching at tertiary level for last 20 years – last 5 years as Professor. He worked for six years in industry before starting his academic career. He was Head of the Department of Industrial and Production Engineering of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. His teaching interests are in the areas of P/OM, Technology and Contract Management, Business System Analysis, and business IS. Chinnapaka Chitharanjandas, Ph.D., Assist. Prof.

Chinnapaka Chitharanjandas is an Assistant Professor of Information Systems at Bang College of Business. He received Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from Korea University Business School (AACSB) Seoul, South Korea. He holds Masters Degree in economics and M. Phil in International relations from Jawaharlal Nehru University New Delhi, India. Before joining KIMEP he taught for graduate and undergraduate programs at Korea University, International Summer School as a part of Institute for International Education (IIE) and for Executive Management Program at Seoul Venture and Information University, South Korea. His industry experiences include working for Korea Exchange Bank and Citi Bank Korea in implementing BASEL II banking regulations. Yong Wan Ju, Ph.D., Visiting Professor

Lyailya Karimova is a Senior Lecturer in the OMIS department at the Bang College of Business. She received her degree of Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (C.P.M.Sc.) in Mathematical Modeling and Numerical Analysis from St-Petersburg State University. Lyailya worked at different research institutes of Academy of Science in Kazakhstan, such as Astrophysical Institute, Institute of Seismology and Institute of Mathematics, as well as in the research team of Kazakh Pedagogical Institute in Almaty. She participated in research activities in different fields of science, namely, observations of satellites, estimation of Earth atmosphere transparency and its aerosol and ozone components. During the last years she worked at the Institute of Mathematics as applied mathematician and concentrated on analysis and diagnostics of nonlinear dynamical systems. Alexander Zhensykbayev, Dr.P.M.Sc., Assistant Prof.

Natalie Pya is a Senior Lecturer of Statistics and Quantitative Methods at OMIS. She received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Mathematics and Theory of Probability & Mathematical Statistics from Kazakh State National University; since 1999 she was a postgraduate student in the Institute of Mathematics, and successfully defended her degree of Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences in 2005. Her research interest lies in the area of Mathematical & Applied Statistics. Her recent publications include: The non-uniqueness of a non-negative integer solution of a system of linear diophantine equations with applications to integer programming, genetics, and reliability; On some business, radioecology and other applications of neural net like algorithms; Chi-squared tests based on Neyman-Pearson classes, and Power of modified Chi-squared goodness-of-fit tests for the family of logistic and normal distributions. Oleg Vlasov, MBA, Senior Lecturer

Oleg Vlasov is a Senior Lecturer of Information Systems courses at OMIS department, Bang College of Business, KIMEP. He joined KIMEP after receiving his MBA degree, and has been teaching IS, Accounting and Management courses.
