Description

The purpose of this course is to give the student a better understanding of cinema through the perspective of the viewer, critic, and filmmaker. Being for non-fiction majors, the class will give an overview of the world of cinema from theory and analysis to the craft of filmmaking.

● Analyze cinema to understand film as an aesthetic art form
● Analyze films critically for form, content, and representation
● Evaluate and justify how the individual elements that compose a film generate meaning and evoke feeling
● Infer the symbolism, metaphors, and overall ideology of films
