BCB Advising and Registration

Advising and Pre-registration of BCB Students

Advising and pre-registration of BCB students for Spring 2006 semester began on November 17, 2005. BCB decided to start advising students earlier than usual when all faculty are in place. Registration will be open to students later (automatically), when the Registrar office is ready.

All faculty members (except part-timers) are assigned a number of students to be advised. A faculty can view his/her lists in the Internet (go to www.kimep.kz, then to Registrar, => For Faculty => List of My Students.

A student can find information about his/her advisor in the KIMEP web site. This information is also available on the information board, 3^rd floor, Dostyk building.

Once a student is properly advised, a faculty member needs to mark the student as "advised" on the web. In 2-3 weeks time from now, when the Registrar Office is ready (the date will be announced later), students marked (ticked) by their Advisors will be given automatic access to registration. They do not need to come the second time to anyone asking to re-open the registration.

Registrar Trainings

To be better prepared for advising and registration the Registrar Office organized special trainings for BCB faculty and staff. Trainings were held on November 14 and 18, 2005 from 11.00-12.00.

Updated KIMEP Catalogue

All faculty members should use the correct soft copy version of KIMEP Catalogue. (They should contact Mariya Vaganova/Dean’s Office).

Feedback and Complaints

If an Advisor still cannot help a student in advising, the latter should be sent to the Chair. The Chair is to assist and if further help is needed, the student should be referred to the Associate Dean and finally, if need be, to the Dean.

BCB Advising Center

If the student is not able to find his/her Advisor (due to any reason) he/she will be able to go to the Advising Center (offices #204, #201, #217, Dostyk Building). The Center started its work from November 17. (working hours: 9.00 to 18.00.) Advising Center consists of one coordinator, Teaching Assistants and a Faculty member (On rotation basis: one hour per faculty member for the entire period).
